Take a short paddle across the river to a dredge spoil island comprised of 30-40 million year old sea floor and the creatures associated with it. You may find shark's teeth, snails, coral, and other cool fossils from the Oligocene epoch. This is a 2-2.5 hour trip and ideal for kids 10 and up.

Masonboro Island is surrounded by extensive seagrasses nestled behind 8 miles of undeveloped beach. Paddle straight to the beach to enjoy private sunbathing and swimming, or spend time cruising through the marsh creeks, enjoying the wildlife as well as the serenity that can be found in this pristine environment!
